Koura Bay Sauvignon Blanc
The Awatere Valley is the source of backbone minerality and hence complexity for some of the very well known high quality (blended) Marlborough sauvignon blancs.
This wine reflects the natural approach that Geoff and his family apply to not only their wine making, but their whole mantra of living. A beatutiful clean wine that reflects the "terroir" of the region and the dedicated approach of the whole family. The alluvial topsoil that sits on top ofthe gravelly layers, hide the greystone sub-soil "Papa" where the great minerality flavours originate.
Tasting Notes
Typical of Awatere sauvignons this wine is packed with aromas of honeyed confectioned green grassy herbs and a light hint of tomato leaf and mint. Pale lemon gold with green tinges in colour, it is a dry wine full of elderflower, sweet dandelion, grapefruit and lemon pith citrus flavours with hints of sweet honey as it develops in the glass. Clean, well structured and balanced with great minerality it has a fresh but layered lingering finish. Alcohol 12.5% Tasted 23.11.11
