Bartinney Chardonnay
Bartinney Chardonnay comes from hand picked bunches of grapes that have been de-stemmed and crushed lightly before pressing. Only the free run juice was innoculated with cultivated yeasts with the fermentation taking place in barrels-French Oak-33% new and 66% second and third fill 225 litre barriques. The wine was matured for ten months in oak with a further 6 months in stainless steel before bottling in June and releasing in September 2010. Only 5506 bottles have been made.
Tasting Notes
The Bartinney Chardonnay is pale lemon gold in colour with wonderful aromas of honeyed citrus and apricot fruit, tobacco leaf and toasty caramel oak notes. Dry rich and creamy on the palate with a medium mouthweight, the wine has beautiful flavours of honeyed almost smokey ripe fruit and spice. Well balanced it goes onto a medium plus dry and, again almost smokey finish. Alcohol 13.5% Tasted 13.04.00
