Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc
The harvest for this wine commenced on March the 24th-using machine harvesters at night and in the very cool early hours of the morning. This keeps the fruit fresh and clean with the minimum amount of damage from the heat. Once the grapes had been de-stemmed and lightly pressed the free run juice along with that of the light press, was transferred to stainless steel for settling. They were then drawn off and fermented-primarily in stainless steel-although a little of the 2010 juice was fermented in old French Oak barriques-(225 litre oak barrels).
Tasting Notes
Aromas of ripe lime and grapefruit citrus, combined with notes of tropical fruit, floral orange blossom and gooseberry are found on the nose. Good mouthweight-(enhanced by blending the barrel ferment)-combined with the fruit and a minerally-citrus acid backbone go to produce an elegant and refreshing wine with a medium lingering finish. Alcohol 13.5% 14.02.11
