Craggy Avery Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc
From perhaps the most widely known Sauvignon Blanc production area in New Zealand-Marlborough-comes this fabulous fresh dry white wine. Released in August 2008 the grapes were destemmed and cool fermented in stainless steel. It rested for two months on lees and has been both fined-(where the winemaker adds a natural product/fining agent such as egg white or Bentonite to the wine. By a process of particle attraction the miniscule bits that might make the wine appear cloudy “stick” to the fining agent to produce bigger particles that can then be filtered out of the wine to make it clear and bright)-and filtered. There is no oak exposure at all to this wine.
Tasting Notes
Very pale lemon in colour with green hues. Intense varietal aromas of lime and grapefruit with flinty stony notes and gooseberry hints. Flavours are rich and juicy with sweet herb and ripe lime citrus coming through. The wine is balanced and yet lively with a long clean finish-13.2% Alcohol 19.10.10
