Domaine de la Rossignole
The name of the CHERRIER family has been attached to the vineyards of SANCERRE since 1848. The winery was created in 1927 by Maurice CHERRIER, who (because of his marriage) left his job as a viticultural worker to farm his own vines which were added to those of his wife. He utilised viticultural techniques that are still advocated today. In 1962, his son Pierre CHERRIER took over the domain adding new enthusiasm and expansion.
The vineyard and winery were expanded in 1985.
The vine growing follows the principles of "Viticulture Raisonee"-being sympathetic to the environment and using as many natural products as possible within the vineyards.
Known for their chalky mineral structured wines, they enjoy the benefits of all three typical Sancerre soils-Silex-(Clay and Silica), Terres Blanches-(White flinty stone) and Caillottes-(Clay/Chalk).
They also now own Domaine du Loriot in Menetou Salon
