Domaines Ott

In 1896 Marcel Ott, an agricultural engineer from Alsace. started on a wine journey with his family that has resulted today in a world reknown high quality wine producer. Initial attempts were made to establish the vineyard in Cavalaire-the most southerly bay of coastal Var between Le Lavandou and St Maxime at the Southern entrance to the Gulf of St Tropez. It was however at Chateau de Selle in 1912 that the dream became reality.

Now owned by the Champagne Louis Roederer, family members Christian and Francois Ott continue to represent these wines around the world. Historically the Ott wines-especially the rose's, were very difficult to obtain as the French consumers, especially the fashionable Paris bistros, consumed most of the production. Technology and investment has now made them more available, however the high demand for them has increased with global exposure and distribution. The wines essentially come from three areas-Chateau de Selle (acquired in 1912) on the plateau of the Var, in the heart of Cotes de Provence country, Clos Mireille (1936) in La Londe bordering the sea not far from Bregancon in the Cotes de Provence Apellation, and finally at Chateau Romassan (1956) at the foot of the village of La Castellet in the heart of the Bandol Apellation.
